Darren joined Southgate School in 2018 as Head of the Mathematics Department. He joined the Senior Leadership Team in as Associate in 2021 and progressed to Assistant Headteacher in 2022. Prior to joining Southgate, he taught mathematics at another leading London state school. He is passionate about the teaching and pedagogy of Mathematics, and how the history of the subject can bring it to life.  

For Middlesex Learning Trust, Darren works as the Mathematics Subject Specialist, providing bespoke support to departments across the Trust in curriculum development, assessment and pedagogical approaches.  

Prior to teaching, Darren was an economist by training, and he has used mathematics professionally, managing derivatives-trading desks at various investment banks, for many years.
