Emma Hazlegreaves
Deputy Director of Standards
Emma Hazlegreaves
Emma joined the MFL department at The Compton School in 2001 as Head of French and progressed to Head of Department in the first couple of years of her appointment. She was one of a handful of Advanced Skills Teachers locally providing support for MFL teachers in schools, locally and nationally, before joining the senior team in 2011. This enabled Emma to further develop her work with other schools, first as a Training School and then as a National Teaching School. At the heart of Emma’s journey in senior leadership has been the development of others and a moral purpose of supporting colleagues to gain the best possible outcomes for young people. Emma progressed within the senior team at The Compton to become Associate Headteacher in 2019 leading the SCITT and Outreach Team. This role has enabled her to design and manage school improvement projects not limited to the LSEF (London Schools’ Excellence Fund) project in maths, upskilling Year 6 primary teachers’ subject knowledge, and a significant DfE SSIF (Strategic School Improvement Funding) working with 5 Luton secondary schools to improve standards in English and maths.
Alongside Emma’s role at The Compton, she is Deputy Director of Standards for the Trust. This role affords her the opportunity to work closely with school leaders in MLT schools to design support, which is delivered through a team of Trust Subject Specialists. She is also the SEND link for MLT. In addition, she facilitates the National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership and supports the design and delivery of the Talent Management Framework.
